Hi everyone,
My dad was John Vollrath, lovingly known as Juan, Tatay, Kuya, Tito, Johnny Be Good and to many more people online as @JBGTravels on YouTube. On February 2, 2026, he unexpectedly passed away.
He spent his final moments doing what he truly loved, truck driving, in the town he loved, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He is survived by his daughters AJ, Jackie, and Norge; his sons Nikita and Entong; and his wife Vangie.
As a dad, he was kind, patient, and always found time to help when he could. He was a doting husband who frequently called home to spend time with us over the phone, even when he was miles away. As a Christian, his faith in God was strong. He lived his beliefs through generosity, love, and kindness toward everyone he met. Now, we take comfort in knowing that he is resting peacefully with our Father in heaven.
We were lucky enough to have him as our dad. In the Filipino culture, tatay means father, but to be called “Tatay” by everyone around you is the highest form of respect. That’s who he was to everybody; Tatay. He would talk to strangers everywhere he went, something that used to embarrass me when I was younger. As I get older, I understand how rare and beautiful that quality is. He truly made people feel like family.
Over the past 10+ years, my dad built something truly special. Through his YouTube channel, he connected with over 100,000 people. He replied to comments, shared his journey openly, and formed a real community one that stretched across states, countries, and cultures. He drove thousands of miles, worked countless hours, and still took the time to make people feel seen and welcomed.
Even if he was a complete stranger, people watched and listened because my dad had a way of making you feel like you were right there with him.
This past year, he switched from long-haul trucking to local driving. After more than 30 years on the road, we were grateful he finally got to be home more often. Although he had less travelling to share, he still loved sharing his adventures with all of you.
While trucking was the profession he devoted his life to, as an independent contractor his income and benefits were not always steady. The estimates we’ve received for services and arrangements have exceeded what our family can manage on our own. We’ve created this Gofundme if you would like to help support our family’s final goodbyes and to honor his wishes to be laid to rest on the island he called home: Camiguin, Philippines.
If my dad ever brought you comfort, made you smile, or helped you feel less alone through his videos, we ask you to consider donating. Any amount helps more than you know. And if you’re unable to donate, please consider leaving a few words here or on his YouTube channel sharing your favorite memory.
Thank you so much for supporting him, loving him, and being part of his journey.
As my dad would say: Fly high and peace. ✌️
With love,
The Vollraths
