It comes with great heartache that our family shares the passing of my father, Jermaine Walters, on July 1, 2026. Jermaine was born on August 23, 1974, to Tondalya Walters and Charles Walters Senior, her husband. He grew up alongside his siblings Charles and Rhonda. He graduated from Roxborough High School and became an accountant, building a life with Eileen Hughes and raising their children, Tasha and Thomas Hughes. Later, after a work accident, Jermaine welcomed his first son, Jamal Walters, followed by twins Tyrik and Tyrice, and his youngest, Marcus Walters.

Jermaine faced many health challenges after his accident, including weight gain and kidney failure, but he never stopped fighting. He quit smoking after 20 years, lost over 300 pounds, and continued to beat obstacles, even when some damage could not be reversed. Despite being homebound, Jermaine remained a poet, writer, and a blessing to all who knew him. He always put his family first, often sacrificing his own needs to care for his children. Through the internet, he connected with others and shared his greatness beyond our home. In his final days, he reassured us with his love and wished to come home, missing us deeply. He lost his fight to septic shock, but his spirit and kindness live on in all of us.

We want to honor Jermaine’s memory with a cremation and a celebration of life service, so a part of him can be with us wherever we go and we can gather together to remember him. I have never been the type to reach out for help and often bear my suffering alone, just as my dad did. He was always the first to help others, even strangers, and would do anything for his children. I am doing this for him, for the man he was, and to fill those shoes. Words cannot express how much this support would mean to my family. Thank you for giving my dad a chance to shine in light once more with us here.
