UPDATE:
Hello all! we have met and exceeded our goal and we are so grateful for your contributions.
We will meet again with the chapel of the chimes on Tuesday to finalize the arrangements and will send out details about the memorial service once we know more. Thank you so much for your generosity, with your help we will be able to lay Jennie to rest and honor her last wishes. We look forward to meeting you all at the service to share memories and celebrate the life of this amazing woman.
On Sunday, May 20th Jennie passed away after a battle with stage 4 lung cancer. To honor Jennie's legacy and her commitment to the Oakland community, we're raising money for a memorial service and to secure a space in the Chapel of the Chimes as her final resting place.
As many of you may already know, Jennie was a frequent visitor to the Chapel of the Chimes over many years and we hope to celebrate her life and lay her to rest in the place she so loved. Jennie had little, but was always going above and beyond for others, frequently hopping on the bus or walking across town to bring flowers to the Oakland Police Department. She may have been the Lakeshore health food store's number one customer, and it wasn't unusual to see her chatting up neighbors and locals criss-crossing from Montclair to Temescal.
We all love Jennie so much and treasure what a special woman she was in our family and community, her laugh (and well-intentioned chiding) will be sorely missed. More info to come :)
