Celebrating Eric Johnson and supporting his family

My dad, Eric Johnson, tragically and suddenly passed on at the age of 61 on December 26th, 2025. The morning following Christmas, he was commuting to work, riding his electric scooter whilst traveling Northbound in the bike lane on Santa Rosa Ave. He was struck by a Chevy Tahoe entering the center-left turn lane, intending to merge into the Southbound traffic. There is an ongoing investigation regarding the tragic accident, which has left my family devastated and shocked. I am asking for support to be able to host a memorial in his honor. We wish to hold a celebration of life for my dad that honors the wonderful person that he was. Any additional support will be used to help me through this hardship, as well as security, housing, and travel for my dad’s service.

My dad was incredibly inspirational to those around him, known for uplifting those that he worked with, and for being an open-minded, free-spirited person. I knew him as having a great attitude and outlook no matter the hardships that he faced. He was always working hard to make things better for himself and the family. My mother and I are trying to keep ourselves positive, we are looking towards the future just as we learned from my dad. We know that he will be missed greatly by the community and the family. Many of the family members and the friends who were close to my dad are left devastated by his untimely death.

If you wish to read about some of my memories of him, please see this wonderful article from Press Democrat following his death. It honors some of his most cherished qualities.

At the time of his sudden death, my dad worked two jobs, provided health insurance to support my transition, as well as supporting my future and college education. He worked as a great chef at Augie’s French restaurant and worked as well at the Lazeaway Club at the Flamingo Resort Hotel, both in Santa Rosa. Unfortunately, he did not have a life insurance policy or death benefit from either of his jobs.

Thank you for your generous support and well wishes during this difficult time. Please feel free to reach out and contact me if you have any questions or concerns as I do my best to make myself available. I am still a full-time college student and working concurrently whilst putting together these plans so I ask for kindness and patience during this difficult process.
