In loving memory of Elijah Hanna
JULY 05, 2007 - May 23, 2026
On 23 May 2026, the Hanna family — Jo, Dave, Bailey, and Mackenzie — lost their precious Elijah. A son, a brother, a teammate, a colleague, and a friend to so many. As his mum Jo wrote so beautifully, he was too special, too perceptive, too generous, too compassionate, too loving for this world. He is now running free.
Elijah touched every community he was part of — Tintern Grammar, Heathmont Jets Football Netball Club, Heathwood Cricket Club, Full Speed Performance, Bayswater McDonald's, 10:1 Warriors, and everyone lucky enough to know him. The outpouring of love since his passing — the tribute basketball game, the flowers, the meals, and the young people filling the Hanna home — is a testament to the extraordinary young man he was.
How your donation helps
Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting the Hanna family through this devastating time. Here is where your generosity will go:
Funeral & wake costs — to give Elijah the celebration of life he deserves, without financial burden on the family.
Meal support — a group of mums from the community are coordinating home-cooked meals for the family over the coming weeks, and your contribution helps make that possible.
Lifeline — any funds beyond immediate family needs will be donated to Lifeline, in honour of Elijah's legacy of love.
Every contribution matters
Whether you knew Elijah personally or you are simply moved by his story, no gesture is too small. This is a community coming together — just as Elijah always inspired people to do.
Jo has given her blessing for this page to be shared widely. If you know anyone who loved Elijah — from Tintern, the Jets, Bayswater Maccas, basketball, or beyond — please pass this on.
Run like the wind, Elijah.
