Greetings Family and Friends,
With immense pride, we announce that our son, Cesa Salaam (also known as Ɔkɔmfoɔ Kwaku Bɛkoe), is completing his Ph.D. at Howard University in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence!
His groundbreaking dissertation, "Quantifying Cultural Emergence and Bias Mitigation in Artificially Intelligent Systems," analyzes culture and reduces bias within AI systems.
Cesa's vision now extends to Ghana, where he plans to spend his time deepening his studies of:
- Asante Twi language
- Indigenous Akan healing practices, specifically Akɔm
His time in Ghana will allow him to further develop the crucial intersection between cutting-edge AI technology and Indigenous knowledge systems. By bridging these worlds, Cesa's work aims to create AI systems that are more equitable, ethical, and culturally responsive.
Cesa needs funds to help pay graduation fees as well as support for his research and trip to Ghana this summer.
We invite you to celebrate Cesa's academic achievement and future work by supporting this next chapter of his research journey. Throughout his studies, Cesa has remained dedicated to serving our family and community, and your support will help continue this important work.
Thank you for investing in both Cesa's future and the advancement of our community as a whole.
