Hello, my name is Makisha Robinson.
I am the daughter of Charlotte Guinn, lovingly known as “Mamalo,” who courageously battled ALS. As the disease progressed, my mother lost her ability to walk and speak, but she never lost her strength, her faith, or her love for her family. Caring for her during the final stages of ALS was both an honor and a heartbreaking journey.
During this time, while managing her hospital admission and transition into a living facility, I was unaware that her life insurance policy had lapsed in November. Because ALS had taken her ability to communicate, there were things she could no longer express or manage on her own. After her passing, I learned that the policy was no longer active, leaving me solely responsible for her final expenses.
My mother has two other sons who are currently incarcerated and unable to assist. As I grieve this tremendous loss, I am also facing the unexpected financial burden of funeral and memorial costs alone.
My mother’s battle with ALS reflects the harsh realities many families face — emotional exhaustion, financial strain, and difficult decisions that come quickly and without warning. I am humbly asking for support to give her a dignified homegoing service that honors her life and the fight she endured.
Any contribution, large or small, will go directly toward funeral expenses and laying her to rest with the love and respect she deserves. If there are any remaining funds, they will be directed toward ALS-related support efforts in her memory.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and continued commitment to families impacted by ALS. Your support means more than words can express.
