Hello, my name is Leslie Burden, Carl's Niece. As his only remaining family member, I am reaching out to Carl's friends and community to help me to properly honor this amazing man, Private Carl W. Kirnbauer, Esq., as I prepare to lay him to rest and to offer a celebration of life to share with his chosen family and friends.

If you knew him, you will not be surprised that Uncle Carl thought he would live forever and had not made end-of-life provisions when he took his last breath on 3/31/26, just following his 90th birthday.

Uncle Carl was loved by many. Carl shared the joys of sailing the seas and living dockside with his friends at the Alamito Bay Marina; he shared his quest for meaning with his spiritual comrades who joined him in his studies of the Course in Miracles, and he inspired future legal professionals through the college courses he taught up until this year. I am lucky to call him Uncle Carl and with your help, I will have the means to properly provide Carl with the honor and respect he deserves as we join together to wish him well in this last voyage. Donations of any size are welcome and greatly appreciated. Once I am able to manage things financially and set up services I will notify all of you of the date for a formal memorial to honor Carl.
