The University of Southern California’s African American Cinema Society (AACS) is hosting a celebratory event in honor of the organization’s 35th anniversary and the premiere of its first funded short film, POISED.
Founded in 1990 by the late John Singleton, AACS continues to honor his vision by fostering a support system for creatives committed to showcasing authentic and explorative representations of Blackness across the diaspora in film and media.
This project empowers AACS members to lead, create, and redefine narratives—for us, by us.
As we are in the final stages of bringing this film to life, we ask for your support to get across the finish line. Not only will your support help us secure a space for us to premiere this film, it will also help us screen the beautiful filmography of many talented Black students and alumni who have been a part of our growing community.
Join us in celebrating 35 years of AACS and help bring Poised to life. Together, we can continue to build a community that empowers, inspires, and transforms the world through film.
