Celebrate Todd Wright's Life and Legacy

Donation protected
Hi family and friends, Audrey here.

Below is the obituary for my father, Todd Wright, with information regarding his Celebration of Life gathering at the end. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all of the prayers, messages, phone calls, meals, and help over the past two years -- especially in these recent, most difficult days.
We know that Todd "Cool Breeze/Killah/Pops/Fabio" is thrilled to see so many people from all different phases of our family's life coming together and reconnecting.

Todd L. Wright, of Georgetown, passed away March 21, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born September 5, 1966, in Denton, Texas, moving to Georgetown in the early 1970s where he spent many years hunting, fishing and navigating nearly every square foot of the city. From a Dale’s Walburger to countless days on Lake Georgetown, his footprints and accompanying stories can be traced all over. After graduating from Georgetown High School, he attended Central Texas College where he briefly studied aviation before transferring to UT-Dallas and eventually to the University of Houston where he graduated with a degree in Finance.

Todd had a diverse career in Banking and Finance, Philanthropy and Entrepreneurship with very few stones left unturned. He most recently was a Loan Officer and Reverse Mortgage Coach with Guild Mortgage and was incredibly passionate about teaching others how to build their careers in this industry.

More than anything, Todd enjoyed and appreciated music and was a talented guitarist and vocalist himself. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing music with his wife, children, family and friends, and many evenings were spent around a fire pit listening to and discussing favorite bands and albums. He shared that Abbey Road by the Beatles was his favorite album of all time.

Next to music Todd’s love for the “great outdoors” was second only to his love for the Lord, his wife and his children. Fishing, camping, hunting, mountain biking, skiing, boating and many other outdoor activities encompassed a vast amount of his and his family’s time.

A running, prominent theme regardless of hobby or interest was Todd’s inherent “researcher” personality. If there was a gadget, he knew all about it. A new place to visit? He probably already networked and made connections. His love of learning was palpable in every interaction he had with those around him.

Todd was well-versed in what felt like endless interests and hobbies enjoying reading, the arts, and sports; just to name a few more.

If you asked Todd what his greatest accomplishment in life was he would, without hesitation, say his wife and three children. Family mattered more to him than anything.

Todd not only touched the lives of his family and friends but was known for never having met a stranger. He had the ability to make everyone feel warm and welcome and had a knack for meeting people where they were intellectually and emotionally.

In his final two years on this earth, he was cared for by his devoted wife, Patti, who stood by his side through every challenging moment.

Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his mother, Priscilla Hiner.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Audrey Hickox (Chris), Nicholas Wright, Leah Wright; father, Tim Wright and his step-mother Lisa; step-father, David Hiner; sisters: Delane Haro (Anthony), Rebekah Daniel (Richard); brothers-in-law, Mike Sowell (Marlene) and Craig Sowell (Robin), a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and countless friends and acquaintances.

Todd always enjoyed a good party and gathering of friends with good music and good times and requested “one last hurrah” instead of a memorial. So, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating instead to this GoFundMe for his forthcoming Celebration of Life. Any leftover funds will go towards paying remaining medical bills, helping the family be able to travel where Todd would like his ashes to be spread, and supporting his wife, Patti.
(Details and dates to come shortly. I [Audrey] will update this page as soon as the family finalizes those details.)
