Celebrate the Life of Joseph Comfort, a "New Haven Legend"

Donation protected
I, Meghan Comfort-Kaminsky, have established this GoFundMe campaign to collect donations for a dignified memorial service honoring my late father, Joseph Comfort. As numerous individuals in the New Haven community are aware, Joseph was homeless and known as a New Haven Street Legend. Joseph had a big heart and even though he didn’t have much to offer, he was always willing to give. Even in his last moments, he gave the gift of life to others as an organ donor. He was loved by many and affectionately known as Karate Joe because he loved karate; Bucket Joe because he always had his bucket, squeegee, and a bottle of window cleaner in hand ready to work, Titanium or Iron Joe because he would like to crack his back and his jaw, and tell everybody he has titanium in his body. Iron Joe comes from the story he loved to tell about him falling at the Coliseum in the 80's while working with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Sadly, he passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital due to unforeseen medical complications at the age of 70 while waiting for a heart transplant.
