Honoring Shani with Love and Gratitude

Shani K.O. Simmons-Hilliard, known for her incredible passion, kindness, quick wit, sports advocacy, compassion, and warmth, passed away at 5:58 on June 30, 2025. It was a shock to everyone who knew her because she was very private when it came to her personal affairs. Not telling anyone (especially her closest friends) was her way of trying to protect us all from the stress and sadness surrounding the seemingly incurable declining health conditions.

Many of you have reached out asking me how you can support us as we prepare to celebrate Shani’s life and say goodbye in a way that reflects her spirit, quietly radiant, strong, and deeply loved.

So, I set up this page as a space to gather the kindness being offered, and a place to receive gifts of love from those who feel moved to contribute.

Although the funeral is taken care of, your contributions will go toward Shani’s repass and other fun events. We are planning something beautiful, peaceful, and meaningful in her honor. Services to be announced.
