Celebrate Sasha Devol's Legacy with a Bay Bridge Light
Donation protected
We grieve for our dearly beloved Sasha Devol who passed away recently in New Orleans, LA.
The San Francisco Bay Area was Sasha’s home for many meaningful years, where she built community, friendship, love, and spread joy to those she shared her light with. Please join us in dedicating a light on the Bay Bridge in her honor and have a physical reminder of this beautiful light we have lost.
Sasha was an artist, activist and builder. She was a visionary, an inspiration, a human being defying definition and loved by many people who now grieve for her all over this world.
“I am fearless, because I am filled with love
I am abundant, because I’m filled with gratitude
I am loved, because I am awake”
- Sasha Devol
Sasha stood for her principles, for people and for justice with ingenuity, dedication and care. Whether it was through her music and poetry, her work with refugees and marginalized people, through the systems and communities she made better with her intentional life or the love she showed to others, her light shines on through those of us lucky enough to have been touched by it.
Nothing can be said to make this better. We can only better ourselves and our community in her memory. And we can keep her memory alive. We encourage you to share your memories of Sasha here and wherever feels right for you, in whatever form you feel inspired to share.
We created this fundraiser to provide others with a way to contribute and feel connected. There will be a dedication ceremony in Oakland (date TBD). All are welcome to the ceremony, whether or not you donate.
Any additional funds raised past our goal will be donated to House of Tulip, which provides trans and gender-nonconforming communities in New Orleans with economic stability and safety through zero-barrier housing and pathways to education, healthcare, employment, and homeownership.
