Dear Family, Friends, and Compassionate Supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother, Rebecca Akech Deng Ngong. Born on January 1st, 1969, Rebecca Akech was a woman of remarkable strength, resilience, and love. She was the mother of six sons: Mayen, Lual, Deng, Ajang, Majok, and Leek. Her life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her children and her incredible journey to provide them with a better future.

Rebecca Akech faced unimaginable challenges in her early years. Forced to flee her homeland of South Sudan due to the brutal civil war, she carried two young sons on her back as she made her way to safety. But even in the darkest of times, Rebecca's heart remained open to others. Along her journey, she selflessly assisted other women in need, helping them deliver their babies and offering comfort and support.

Her compassion and courage knew no bounds. Rebecca Akech was a peacemaker, a woman who brought together families with long-standing feuds, using her strength and love to heal old wounds. She was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to someone in need, always putting others before herself.

Rebecca Akech's love for her boys was immeasurable. She raised them single-handedly, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and unity. Her affectionate smile and warm heart touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Tragically, Rebecca Akech faced immense loss in her life. On March 11th, 2017, she lost one of her sons here in the U.S. to gun violence, and in November 2022, another son who resided in Kenya passed away. Despite these heartbreaking losses, she remained the pillar of strength for her remaining four sons: Deng, Ajang, Majok, and Leek.

As we mourn the loss of this incredible woman, we are committed to honoring her memory in the way she deserves. We humbly ask for your support in helping us give our mother the proper burial that reflects the extraordinary life she lived. Rebecca Akech was, and will always be, a superhero to her sons—a legacy of love, strength, and sacrifice that will continue to inspire us all.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping us lay our mother to rest with the dignity and respect she earned through a life well-lived.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Sons of Rebecca Akech Deng Ngong
