In Loving Memory of Peter Lee Nelson

Pete passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2025, after living with heart problems in recent years.

Born on January 27, 1977, in Schaumburg, Illinois. Pete was a caring brother and loving father. He was known for his infectious smile, boundless kindness, and his ever-ready sense of humor. He always had a joke to share. Pete loved the ocean, especially all the memorable family trips to Captiva, Florida. Pete cherished time with his kids; hanging out, being silly, and enjoying all the activities they loved together.

Pete is survived by his children Hayden, Conrad, and Kennedy; their mother Lauren; his brothers Matt and Scott; his sister-in-law Jen; and his step-siblings and their spouses: Kristi and Jay Schroeder, Karl and Sue Erickson, and David Erickson.

Pete is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Baylee, Megan, Matthew, Andrew, and Michael. Each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He also leaves behind extended family, dear friends, and a legacy of love and memories that will live on through the many lives he touched.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Nelson; father, Ernest Nelson; and stepmother, Nancy Nelson; as well as the family’s beloved four-legged companions, Buddy and Bear.

Pete’s body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25, at St. Julian Eymard, 601 Biesterfield Rd, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.

A private burial of his remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, IL, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Pete’s honor to help support his family and celebrate his life and legacy.
