We would have been celebrating Paul & Karen's 45th wedding anniversary this month. Still, as you know by now Paul passed away two weeks ago and our family, especially Karen has been trying to navigate all the hurdles and things you have to do when someone passes with little notice or chance to prepare for it. You pass away and costs and impacts are immediate but things like social security survivor's benefits and life insurance take weeks if not months to process (as we are learning).
My sister and I are taking a collection to help celebrate them and help my mom through this transition. Social Security isn't going to have her survivor benefits ready to go until at least May (when they have scheduled her interview) so these funds will help fill the gap in funds needed for her for March, April, and May and also to help fund the memorial bench at Metzger Park.
Washington County Parks has put us in touch with the company they contract out for benches so it meets all the park requirements and is easy for them to maintain once installed. They will work with our family to find the best place for the bench. Here is an example of the bench that will be installed.
We hope to have the bench funded and installed in time for the memorial service in late June.
Thank you for keeping Paul and Karen in your hearts all these years.
