Celebrate the life of Paul Michael Lamb 'Lamby"

Hey everyone,

If you’re reading this, you’ll know I’ve been bravely fighting cancer for the past few years, and that now I’ve finally shuffled off. I’m probably cracking a joke somewhere, eyeing up the angels (don’t tell Dee), and wondering why everyone’s making such a fuss.

Seriously though, thank you for being here.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a laugh, a bit of banter, and people coming together. I’ve always believed that kindness matters, especially the practical kind, the sort that actually helps when life feels heavy.

Just over ten years ago, our family went through something unimaginably painful when Dee’s eldest daughter, Hannah-Leigh, died suddenly at the age of 14 after a stroke. During that devastating time, the care and support we received from Ronald McDonald House and Acorns Children’s Hospice was incredible. They gave us comfort, dignity, and space to breathe when everything felt unbearable.

More recently, during my own final chapter, St Richard’s Hospice were there for me and my family, going above and beyond in the care, compassion, and comfort they gave us. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better support.

Rather than giving money directly, we chose to do things my way, practical, thoughtful, and hands-on. We bought items families really use for family flats and communal areas, things like small electricals and everyday essentials, so the support felt real and immediate.

As my memorial, I’d love to do that again.

The money raised here will be used to buy practical items directly for Ronald McDonald House, Acorns Children’s Hospice, and St Richard’s Hospice, based on what they tell us is most helpful. Jennie, who I trust completely, has agreed to act as fund custodian. She’ll make sure everything is transparent, including what’s raised, what’s bought, and where it all goes, with photos taken together with Dee as the items are purchased and delivered.

If you choose to donate, please know this isn’t just about money. It’s about turning love, loss, and gratitude into something kind and useful for families who really need it.

So please, raise a smile, raise a glass, and absolutely enjoy some banter along the way. That would suit me perfectly.

With love, laughter, and thanks,
Paul xxxx
