Brian Rowland is a 35 year old para-alpine sit skier from Merrickville, Ontario who will be representing Canada at the Bejing Paralympics this March. It is Brian's dream to compete in the Paralympics, and he has overcome so many challenges over the past few years in order to make his dream a reality. We really want to show him our love and support.

Brian was a red seal plumber in Eastern Ontario before suffering a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed in 2015. It changed the course of his life. He always had a love for sports and started sit skiing at Calabogie Peaks in 2017. His specialty is speed (Super G and Downhill). He was a snowboarder before his accident and says, "It’s amazing to still be able to get up on the mountains."

Of making it to the Paralympics he says, "I feel very honoured to have qualified for the Beijing Winter Games. I’m proud to represent our country on the biggest international stage. I’ve worked so hard and made lots of sacrifices to get where I am now. I’m giving this my all." This will be his first Paralympics after joining the Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Team in 2019.

It has been a long and difficult road for Brian to get to the Paralympics. Due to COVID restrictions, the past couple of years have had many cancellations, disappointments, and changes in plans. One in particular being that we were not able to have a celebration to send him off. His friends and family wanted to organize a way for us to show support and celebrate all that he has accomplished. We want to send him off to the games with a loud cheer that he can hold onto as we cannot be there cheering him on in person. He will be leaving for China on February 25th for the Games that start March 4th.
