Update (5/15): Thank you again to all the supporters who have helped us to reach our goals in order to provide the Senior Class of 2021 a memorable graduation that honors the incredible resilience and tenacity of our scholars who have persevered through the pandemic and the challenges of virtual learning, all while taking on jobs and additional responsibilities at home.
We are thrilled that we will be able to make this in-person graduation possible, though we do need to increase our goal because of unforeseen circumstances and to cover the cost of parking for families attending the ceremony. Again, we realize that we have made a few adjustments to our goals since the start of this campaign, especially as the graduation day approaches and we receive additional information and factors outside our control change. We appreciate the continued support from the Tajima community and even those outside of the immediate Wolverine family. We are moved by the generosity of our supporters and by the spirit and devotion of those who continue to help us in advocating for these seniors who truly deserve to be celebrated for their effort and achievements.
Our priority is currently the graduation, though we are hopeful that with our other fundraising efforts, we will still be able to hold a Senior Luncheon in the future.

Update (5/8): Thank you to everyone who helped us to reach our goal in such a short time. With these funds, we will be able to ensure that our scholars, the Senior Class of 2021, will get to celebrate their graduation in person with their loved ones cheering them on!
Now, all additional proceeds will be dedicated to having a Senior Luncheon after graduation. At a later time, we will be updating our goal to reflect the cost for this senior activity for those who still wish to contribute to the Senior Class of 2021. We realize that there have been constant changes to our goals during the pandemic due to the continued updates about COVID cases in Los Angeles. We thank everyone who has supported us throughout these changes, whether by sharing the campaign, donating, or offering to assist us as we endeavor to make these moments special to our scholars. In the upcoming week, we will be able to share more details about the Senior Luncheon, so stay tuned!
In gratitude,
Mayra & Alex

Update (4/27): As of today, we have confirmation that this year's graduation will be held in person. We are excited to make this announcement because this means that the Senior Class of 2021 will be able to celebrate together with their loved ones!! To ensure that the Class of 2021 has the best graduation and to relieve them of the burden of financing this graduation, we are asking for contributions to our Go Fund Me campaign. The donations would go towards having the graduation at the planned location and paying for the diplomas, diploma covers, graduation Honor cords and medals, and a few items for their gift bag!
Thank you all for the support!

Summer - (6/30/20)
With so many changes as a result of COVID-19, schools such as ours have needed to make adjustments to how we approach ordinary school functions and activities. Since the school year will start in a virtual setting, our seniors will not be able to fundraise as we ordinarily would. Moreover, the senior class is confronted with the need to plan for a virtual graduation as well as a traditional graduation, should COVID-19 continue to pose a threat. With all the uncertainty, we need to be proactive and creative, and we are asking for your help so that our scholars are able to participate in the senior activities and traditions that make the end of high school memorable and special.
Over the last three years, the Class of 2021 has worked hard and their work deserves to be recognized and celebrated. These scholars have been leaders on campus, creative problem solvers, agents of change in their communities, and some represent their families as the first to graduate high school, let alone attend college. In addition to their academics and extracurriculars, many scholars took on jobs in order to support their families during this time. These hard-working, deserving individuals will need support in making senior activities an affordable reality, as many of our scholars come from low-income families that have been deeply affected by the global health and economic crises.
Now is the time to begin planning the events to celebrate these upstanding individuals. Tajima High School plans to acknowledge the accomplishments and perseverance of the Class of 2021 with the rites of passage that mark the end of a successful high school career: Prom, Grad Nite, Senior Week, and Graduation. These funds will help to alleviate scholars of the financial burden of paying senior dues in addition to the current stress placed on them and their families due to COVID-19.
Want to join us in celebrating these scholars and ensuring that ALL students can participate in senior activities? Any donation makes an impact and is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
Sincerely,
Mayra Gradilla and Alex Loomer
