This annual fundraiser is for The Mildred J. Kurtz Employment and Training Center in Durham, North Carolina whose mission is to develop employment opportunities through training, education, community partners, entrepreneurship, and faith in order to connect underserved people to employment in a direct effort to alleviate poverty in specific impoverished local areas.  My mother, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday today, May 11, 2021, was a pioneer in the area of economic development in small, rural areas. I can think of no better way to honor her memory and celebrate her birthday.
