My name is Leslie Peñate, and it is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news of my cousin Luis Mario’s passing. Luis Mario Peñate, the beloved son of José Luis and Soñia Peñate, lost his courageous battle with stage 4 gastric cancer today.

Luis Mario was so much more than the illness that took him. He was a light in all of our lives—a goofy, funny, generous, and warm-hearted man who could make anyone laugh, even on the hardest days. He had this incredible ability to brighten a room with his infectious humor and big heart. Above all, Luis Mario was a devoted father, a loving partner, a caring brother, and a cherished son.

As we process this unimaginable loss, we are coming together as a family to honor Luis Mario's memory and support those he loved most. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of everyone who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the laughter and love he brought into our lives.
