On January 7, 2025, Mace Morris tragically and suddenly passed away at age 53. He leaves behind his loving partner Rachael (Rage) Carrico, his sister Tiffany, brothers Elliot, Troy, Geno and Duke, daughter Macy and step-mother Bobbie. Mace’s unexpected loss is devastating.

Mace was an amazing person, a great friend, and so very talented. He was funny, smart, kind, debonair, and adventurous. He filled a room with his presence, whether it was his music or his conversation—he was “one of a kind.”

Best of all, he loved, cared for, and supported Rachael. He was her partner in life and in musical crime, working gigs, providing technical support, and being a muse to Rachael. Mace has been writing and playing music all his life. One of his achievements was cowriting a song with Gloria Estefan which she recorded and which featured Stevie Wonder on harmonica and vocals. He played in many bands throughout the years, some including Backa Dat Caddy, Question Reality, Space Train, Miss Michigan, Phay Bridges Band and many more. Mace worked for Dobil Laboratories as an audio-visual technician at several hotels in downtown Asheville and played drums at Off the Wagon Dueling Piano Bar. All who knew him and worked with him deeply respected and loved him. Mace appeared to be in the prime of his life—healthy and happy—with so much ahead of him.

After Rachael’s own major surgery last summer and the substantial losses she and Mace suffered due to Hurricane Helene, there are no funds to provide Mace with a modest cremation and Celebration of Life. Rachael expects the costs to be at least $4,000.

The world has lost a truly special soul, and Heaven has gained an angel. I’m Rachael's aunt and I'm asking for your help to support her as she navigates this heartbreaking time. All donations will go toward covering the cremation and expenses allowing family and friends to celebrate Mace’s life.
