Honoring the Life and Legacy of Luz Garnica

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Luz Garnica after an intense and courageous battle with Bulbar Onset ALS.

Bulbar Onset ALS is a rare and especially aggressive form of ALS that first attacks the ability to speak, swallow, and eventually breathe. It robs people of their voice and independence far too quickly while leaving their minds sharp and aware. The challenges are heartbreaking, requiring feeding tubes, communication devices, breathing assistance and constant care, all while facing the relentless progression of the disease.

Watching someone you love go through this is incredibly painful, and yet Luz faced it with courage, grace, and that unforgettable smile that never faded.

Luz was a light in every room, known for her radiant smile, boundless energy, and the love she poured into everyone around her. She was a force of nature who gave selflessly, always putting others before herself, and she touched countless lives through her kindness, strength, and spirit.

ALS is not only a devastating disease but also a costly one. On average, families face significant expenses, covering medical equipment, home modifications, and specialized care. Luz’s husband stepped away significantly from work to become her full-time caregiver, walking with her every step of the way. While it was an honor to care for her, this journey carried a tremendous financial responsibility on top of the emotional impacts.

We are asking for support to help cover funeral expenses and to honor Luz’s incredible life and legacy. Your generosity will allow us to celebrate the impact she made and ensure she is remembered in the way she deserves.
