Celebrate Kathy's Life: Support Her Loved Ones

I am writing this on behalf of Kathy's husband (Lewis), her only remaining sibling (Nancy), her son (Ondrew) and her grandson (Quandell). This morning, we lost Kathy to a heart attack and while her death was devesting and a loss to all who knew and loved her, we know that she is with her only child Tene. Kathy was more than just a wife, mother, grandmother, little sister she was a confidant, a safe haven where secrets, dreams, and worries could all be shared without fear. Her kindness flowed naturally, like sunshine spilling into a room, warming every heart it touched.
She loved simply and deeply, never needing grand gestures to prove her affection. A gentle touch, a knowing smile, a patient ear these (along with a delicious meal) were the gifts she gave so freely. She was patient with everyone (I often compared it to a childlike innocence and the belief that people were filled with love). Aunt Kathy was always someone you could go to whether you were a child just learning to tie your shoes, a teenager trying to figure life out, or an adult when life was hitting you with heavy moments.
Before Tene passed, they created a home that was a place where the walls echoed with loud joy, boisterous debates, and gourmet meals, from oxtails and rice to corn beef and cabbage, you know you was leaving them with a belly full. They had a bond, so deep and loving that they were often mistaken for sisters not mother and daughter. They were truly inseparable each with each other's confidant, partner in laughter, and source of strength.
She believed in people, always seeing the good, always leading with kindness believing these simple things could impact someone to give them hope. In her presence, you felt valued, seen, and understood. She taught us that love didn't need to be loud to be powerful it could be soft and quiet and still change everything.
When Tene preceded her in death, a piece of her heart and (I believe her soul) went to. Yet even in her grief, she carried forward the love they shared. She kept Tene's spirts alive-the laughter, the open doors, the patient kindness, and the unwavering belief that everyone deserved a place to belong.
Their bond was a testament to a love that transcends time and loss. It remains a shining example of family, friendship, and the incredible power of loving with your whole heart.
Kathy's spirit lives on in every kind word we speak, in every moment we choose patience over frustration, and in every simple act of love we share with the world. She was a gift, and we are all better for having known her.
