At the beginning of November 2025, I lost the love of my life--John Sawyer. He passed away after several years of trying to deal with some pulmonary complications that we never could quite figure out, but in the years we were together, we had some of the most epic and wonderful adventures imaginable. From hanging out at our favorite spot here at home (DTTN 2.0) to taking trips with his family across the globe, John simply loved to experience the world and all it had to offer. He loved good food and good drinks, especially beers, and of those, especially stouts. And he loved our cat, Gray.
He was avidly curious about everything, and if there was something he didn't know, he would find out. He was there for so many people--from 1-900-Hotdoggers to our WoW guild (Celestial Advocates), to his coworkers, family, and friends. He loved words and logic puzzles and he had an incredible imagination. But he was also patient, kind, and generous to everyone.
These words don't do justice to the man I fell in love with nearly 20 years ago, but I hope they give you some idea of him--however inadequate.
His passing was unexpected, and while he'd made some plans for our future, his own death wasn't something he'd considered to any great degree. So now it falls to me, his friends, and his family to try and put together a celebration of his life, and to that end, I'd like to ask for your help. This is something we can all do together to honor him, and I hope you'll consider donating what you can.
We're still hashing out all the details, but as we figure out the logistics, I'll be sure to keep you updated on how these funds are being spent in order to honor him and the life he lived.
Thank you.
