Tomorrow is Jody’s birthday, and the past two years carries a weight that words can barely explain. Many of you know pieces of what he’s been through — but very few know the full story. Jody spent 18 months in gdc under circumstances that the Georgia Court of Appeals, and now the Georgia Supreme Court, have ruled should never have happened the way they did.

The Appeals Court reviewed his case. The Supreme Court reviewed it again. Both higher courts agreed that serious mistakes were made in how his case was handled. Those rulings came only after he had already served every single day of the sentence. Nothing can give him that lost time back.

After being home a week he was hospitalized for severe dka and spent almost a week in micu at memorial.

I’ve watched him try to rebuild himself piece by piece. Through all of it, he has held onto hope — even when it felt like the world was collapsing around him.

We’ve struggled financially through this whole fight, and now that he’s finally home, I want him to have one day —that reminds him he’s loved and supported and that his life is worth celebrating.
