11/28/25: thank you to those who donated! we’re still trying to figure out what we can do. There is so much to do yet and it’s all new to me. For a little more background:
Grandma has raised me since I was a baby. As I grew up, she did too and I wasn’t prepared. There were days that we butted heads a little bit but she has never left my side and I’ve never left hers. She worked at Walmart for many years where many people got to know her as “shortstack” or for her attitude or maybe it was the throwing tires as big as her that made her stand out. We’re struggling with our new life with our her and trying to keep her memory alive.
On October 4th, 2025, Glenda passed away after a two-year-long battle with cancer. The journey started in 2023 when they found a lung nodule, thus prompting us to go headfirst into really the unknown. In December of 2023, I brought my Grandma to Fargo where she underwent a long surgery to remove the tumor from her lung. Many days of running back and forth from Fargo, numerous doctor's appointments, the list goes on.
In the summer of 2025, things became more difficult for Glenda. After many trips to the ER, they finally told us why she wasn’t being her normal fiery self. It was a brain tumor, and it was inoperable. It was absolutely devastating to hear. The feeling of coldness and helplessness was so overwhelming. Grandma was my best friend. Raising her granddaughter may not have been the easiest task, but she did it. And she had many compliments supporting how good of a job she did.
Many people would know Glenda as the short little spitfire that was throwing tires around that were just as big as her at the automotive department at Walmart.
It’s been difficult trying to find the right answers to things or having someone to gossip to, knowing she always had an answer or a solution. I’ve been so overwhelmed with the amount of support people have given us. I’m trying to raise enough funds so we can give Glenda the celebration she deserves. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
