Some know me as Mary, but most know me as "Edgar Allan".
6 months ago, Edgar Allan and I fought like hell to beat cancer. It was the hardest thing I have every been through in my life. On March 29th Edgar Allan lost his fight with cancer. He placed his head in my hands as he laid on a fluffy bed surrounded by those who loved him and those who fought so hard to help him beat cancer. As Edgar Allan and I looked in each other’s eyes we both granted each other permission to let go.
Edgar Allan is the reason I am who I am. December 1st would have been his 10th birthday. The past two years I have organized a fun toy drive for the holidays/MDSPCA, but this year I would like to do something specifically in memory of Edgar Allan's 10th birthday.
I have had the great honor of being welcomed into the Pitties and Purrs Rescue Inc. family. Mary Sullivan, Sarah Long and all of the fosters have been incredibly kind and have brought a lot of joy back into my life that had dimmed. Mary Sullivan and her team work tirelessly to help so many dogs and cats in need and so many medical needs animals that are frequently overlooked. Pitties and Purrs Rescue Inc. is a small, foster-based rescue in Baltimore, MD that most local residents are very familiar with and know what a great impact they have made in animal welfare.
This year in place of my toy drive I am honoring Edgar's 10th birthday on December 1st by fundraising 10 adoption fees for 10 dogs. Pitties and Purrs Rescue Inc. current fees range from $250-300 for an adult, senior or medical dog. My goal is for us to sponsor 10 of their LONG-term pups’ adoptions fees. This will be a tremendous help to Pitties and Purrs Rescue Inc. and I can't think of a better way to honor Edgar Allan's memory and 10th birthday.
Please help me in honoring Edgar Allan. A pup who made me who I am today and touched so many other people’s lives. Many thanks to all.
