The music has paused, but the legacy of Andrew Carrier remains vibrant in every note of Zydeco played across the prairies he called home. As many of you know, our beloved Andrew passed away on January 24, 2026, leaving behind a void that no accordion can quite fill.
Andrew spent his life giving to others—through his music, his mentorship of young artists, and his unwavering devotion to Creole culture. He was the first to show up for a benefit dance and the last to leave the stage if someone still wanted to dance.
Now, it is our turn to support the children he loved so dearly as they navigate this profound loss.
Why We Are Raising Funds
As Andrew’s children step up to give their father the "Zydeco King" send-off he deserves, they are facing the significant unexpected costs of a memorial that honors a man of his stature. We want to ensure that Andrew is laid to rest with the dignity and celebration his contribution to Louisiana music warrants.
Your donations will go directly toward:
• Final Arrangements: Covering the costs of the funeral service and burial.
• The Musical Tribute: Funding a community "La-La" (traditional dance) organized by his children to celebrate his life, ensuring his fellow musicians can gather to play him home.
• Legacy Preservation: Assisting his children with the expenses related to settling his estate and preserving his musical archives for future generations.
How You Can Help
1. Donate: No amount is too small. Every bit helps ease the financial burden on his children during this time of grief.
2. Share: Please share this link on Facebook, Instagram, and with your local music circles.
3. Remember: Leave a message for his children with your favorite memory of Andrew—whether it was a specific show, a song, or a lesson he taught you.
Andrew always said, "Zydeco is about bringing people together." Even in his passing, his children hope to do just that.
Thank you for your love, your prayers, and for helping his family keep the rhythm alive.
