Celebrate and wish Dharmashura well as he retires
Dharmashura has faithfully served the Birmingham Buddhist Centre for many years. He's been working as our Director since 2011. Personally I've been consistently inspired by his dedication and willingness to do the somewhat invisible legal and financial work necessary for the sake of the Charity and our wider community. In his words he would say he's simply 'doing what needs to be done', again and again I've witnessed him respond to the needs of individual Sangha members or the responsibilites of the charity.
It would be great to wish him well with a generous gift, please contribute to get him something nice :-).
Dharmashura has contributed in many ways; for example there is our delightul garden, which he's spent many happy hours nurturing and tending. I wouldn't say I've ever seen Dharmashura angry, but he can certainly get miffed if our beautiful environment isn't being cared for!
On top of that is the many years he spent living in the Community/ Centre at Salisbury Road as things were getting started. During which time he left his well paid job in local government inspired to help serve our fledgling community.
Another signifcant thread is his involvement in the Abhayaratna Trust, set up to support aging and sick Order Members. This perfectly embodies his deep concern to care for everyone in our community irrespective of their status or 'importance'. We've got a duty to care for each other and he quietly gets on with doing just that.
All told Dharmashura has generously and willingly given the best part of fourty years to the Birmingham Centre and the wider Movement. As he retires he plans to have more time to tend the garden so if you are here during the day to take the time to bask in it's magnificance and say hello to him.
