It is with a heavy heart that I announce, this past Saturday, May 17, 2025, my father, my Dad, Alfonso Alaniz, passed away.

My mother lost a husband, my siblings lost a father, and our children lost a grandpa. The student-athletes at Edison High lost not just a coach but an advocate and supporter.

Still, he left us all with memories we will cherish always, life lessons, and most of all, LOVE!

I know he will be missed, not just by myself and our family, but also the students, coaches, and friends of the Soul Vikes Community.

I love you, DAD. I know you're up there in heaven with Grandma and Grandpa Alaniz, telling them all about us with a proud smile on your face.
