Celebrate Alex Smolecki's Life: Help with Final Arrangements
Donation protected
It is with great joy for his life and deep sadness for our loss that we are reaching out for help today.
I am Magdalena Smolecka, my brother Sebastian Smolecki and I are coming to you with a request for support to help with costs associated with the loss of our little brother Alex Smolecki. We lost Alex to a tragic accident on February 25, 2025 and are seeking to aid our parents in providing for his funeral and medical expenses.
Alex was an exemplary son, brother, role model, godfather, teammate, boyfriend and friend. I know this news will come as a terrible shock to many of you, please know we are grieving right along with you.
Alex was a force to be reckoned with. He was someone who pushed himself to do better while supporting others around him. Whenever he stepped into a room he had the ability to bring joy and laughter in any circumstance while having the most infectious sense of humor.
Alex, as many of you know, was a climbing enthusiast. He started scaling 14ers at 14 years old. On one occasion he even went to Japan to just hike Mt. Fuji! He only had 48 hours to get it done, and yet he managed to fly to Japan, take a train, hike Mt Fuji, fly home to Chicago, and make it to work on time the next day!
Alex had an entrepreneurial spirit, and was always seeking to learn new things. He started his own soap business at 12 years old He worked on his organic soap business with the influence of our adoptive grandmother, Alyce. He kept at it all while swimming competitively, studying, and reading constantly to continue expanding his mind.
In 2024, he landed his dream internship at United Airlines. He was a full-time intern for United while working towards his advanced mechanical engineering degree He was over the moon because he was doing what he loved. Eventually, he hoped this career would
lead him to his dream job of being a commercial pilot, He was at home in the air and enjoyed the travel this line of work brought him.
He was a humble man. Even though his life was a whirlwind of obligations, work, and adventure he made time for others. He treasured his time with his niece, adding “expert babysitter” to his list as he learned how to care for her.
Alex was not a hugger, not that it kept us from hugging him every chance we got. It is perhaps the hardest part for me, not knowing when I hugged him goodbye in October of 2024 it would be for the last time. Seba and I lost our best friend, but we remain honored to be a part of his family.
When you remember Alex please know that we are thankful you are continuing to keep a piece of his light with you. In honor of his ambitious, driven, caring, funny, thoughtful spirit we ask that you seek your own adventures as he did in life. Know that he is
with you every step of the way.
In memory of him, we invite everyone to do a physically challenging activity every month of 2025. Tag us at #aleksfunniestchallenge so we can share in the joy you find!
Please comment, share, and share widely
Let's keep his spirit alive!
