Hello, we're fundraising to send Ceilidh Aho, a Guelph Rowing Club member and University of Guelph student athlete, to the FISU World University Games this summer. This fundraiser will support her competition fees & air travel, which total about $7000 CAD.
Ceilidh Aho started rowing as a novice at the University of Guelph in September of 2023. After just one year of summer racing and a single fall varsity season, she has been selected to race for Canada in the Women's 4- category this July 25-27 in Germany. This incredible accomplishment is a testament to Ceilidh's hard work over the long winter months in the UoG erg room, as well as her commitment to self-improvement and finding speed in all boat classes.
After training with the other FISU athletes in St. Catharines, Ceilidh will represent Canada in the women's four event. When she goes to the start line in Germany this July, Ceilidh will be with fellow GRC teammate Madelyn Vandermeer (UBC) as well as student athletes Ceilidh MacDonald (Queen's) and Olivia Calbeck (Western).
Ceilidh is a positive presence around the GRC and you might recognize her as the newest member of the summer coaching staff. She is sharing her passion for rowing - and pulling 2ks on the erg - by teaching Learn to Row, working on equipment around the boathouse, and archiving GRC's many paper files! If you see Ceilidh around the boathouse, wish her good luck as she gets ready to wear the maple leaf and represent Canada on the racecourse for the first time.
