Anyone who knows my sister Ceidie knows how caring, talented and funny she is. She is a beautiful person inside and out and has an incredible zest for living life to the fullest. She has an amazing support system of family and friends who she loves fiercely.
When I heard my phone ring at 5AM on Friday 26th I immediately knew something was wrong. Terror ran through my heart after I answered. Ceidie suffered a double stroke with a brain clot and a brain bleed. On the ambulance ride she had seizures the whole way to the emergency room. After the ER she spent the next 5 days in ICU where they did many scans, tests, blood draws and medications. They could not aggressively go after the clot because there was a bleed at the same time and couldn't risk making it bleed more. She was in and out of consciousness the first day. And wasn't able to say more than 1 or 2 words the first two days. Slowly and steadily she regained awareness of herself, surroundings and loved ones. For the trauma she has experienced she has made great progress but not out of the woods. There has been no further bleeding and the clot has not gotten any bigger. Her body will dissolve the clot over the course of the next year. She will not be able to drive for 3 months. She will not be able to work for 3-6 months. She will be on blood thinners for up to a year and anti-seizure meds for at least 30 days.
She is being moved to an inpatient facility who specialize in stroke victims. There she will recieve neurological therapy and intensive rehabilitation to heal her brain and body for the next couple of weeks.
Ambulance, ER, ICU and inpatient therapy bills are going to be astronomical. She has insurance but the deductible and out of pocket are very high. Along with her not being able to work for months, she is going to need our help so that she can focus on healing and not on stressing about financial pressures. Any help with funds will go towards all of these medical bills. Your support is appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. Much love
