The Cedar Stars U19 Boys team from Katy Soccer Academy won their first State Championship over Memorial Day Weekend in Round Rock Texas. They are now headed to Greensboro North Carolina, June 21 - 28, to compete in the Region III Championships against 15 of the top teams in the Southeastern United States.
These 19 young men have given everything they have on the field and off the field. Many of them graduated from high school a week or two ago. Some of them are going on to play soccer at the college level, but for others, this will be their final run on a competitive soccer team.
It is going to take about $21,000 to get 19 players and 2 coaches to North Carolina. This amount includes airfare, van rentals, hotels, 3 meals a day (for boys that eat A LOT of food!), tournament fees, and more. The team is organizing a couple fundraisers (car washes), and has gotten a couple of small sponsorships, but we are trying to keep the amount that each player has to pay out of pocket as low as possible.
If you can help out with a donation of any amount, it would be greatly appreciated. We hope to make South Texas proud and bring a Regional Championship home to Houston/Katy!
