Help us Grow The Cedar Room Into the Cedar House Japan
A tree is a symbol of enduring strength and protection - a tree’s body is rooted in the earth and its branches are dancing in the sky, shielding anyone underneath from the elements, creating a safe space and a home. The Cedar Room is ready to grow across the earth and sky and turn into the Cedar House Japan and we invite you to grow with us.

The Cedar Room began in Brooklyn, NY in 2006 and has formed a community through music, freedom and togetherness. DJ and founder Monchan has lived in New York City for over 25 years but his real journey began when he was lucky enough to be invited to experience David Mancuso’s Loft party.

“I was astonished by the vibe he created in his loft apartment.  Once you enter the Loft, you are filled with love. Same as NY attitude, the night of the Loft is expressing real life, there is a dark side of life but you can let it go with the love & peace atmosphere in that Room. The Loft influenced me in so many ways, music and life,” he explains. This inspired his creation of the Cedar Room party and it has grown over the past 14 years into something larger. The goal was to “make an intimate home party to create a safe place without fear of someone’s judgement.”

It’s the dawn of a new beginning as the world changes in reaction to a global pandemic and a need for peace and the Cedar Room and the people who created it,  are looking to move to the mountains of Japan to make an arts community where people can come to visit and stay for short and long times and experience the music and the community among nature. Toshi and Yuki want to grow this idea into a Cedar Room Japan, a unique place that will capture that feeling of freedom and also become a home away from home for artists, dreamers, dancers and people looking for peace through music and friendship.

Cedar House Japan Features:

Cedar House Japan will be the house of live streaming room, guest room for members,  record shop and audiophile music lounge in the deep mountains of Japan. It is an extended version of the Cedar Room that was born in Brooklyn..

Instead of a  one night experience, we would like people to experience 2 weeks to 3 months of this world we create.

►We are planning to create in a 2 story house with some rooms in the mountains to make Cedar House into a place where people can enjoy a long stay and experience everything there is to offer with us and nearby
►Hot springs, beautiful water, forest and mountains are nearby.
►There are some hotels in the area if you want to upgrade your staying.
►There are outside event spaces for summer festivals nearby.
►15 mins car ride from the Airport

He worked at FunkySlice Recording Studio, Downtown304 distributor, EKS Vinyl Factory, Vinylmania Warehouse and A1 Record Shop.
He had started the Cedar Room party under the influence of the Loft by David Mancuso.

Yuki Noji has been part of the New York music scene for 15 years as a DJ, party and radio host (monthly show on the Lot Radio) and record store employee (Fat Beats, Academy Records, A1 Records).  Along with Toshi, they created a YouTube channel celebrating underground dance music in NYC starting with a huge piece on the legendary Vinylmania  record store.

As Toshi’s partner, she helped to create the modern day Cedar Room party and brought together the family at the party by expanding the event to include the serving of the Japanese food she loves to cook.  She cooked everything they served there from scratch - her family Cedar Room  vegetable curry took 24 hours to make!  She wanted to make the party feel more like home, serving delicious  food anytime while the Cedar Coom was open so people could eat her Japanese specialities. Offering  food for hungry people and heavy dancers was an important role she created for herself !
