This is my niece Cecilia Martinez. She is 14 years old and currently in a medically induced coma.
The story
On April 20th, Cecilia was having a normal day at school. However, she was being bullied by a couple of her classmates. This caused her to have a severe amount of stress but on that day it was unfortunately too much. She started to feel very sick and was complaining of a headache. She went to see the school nurse and the nurse had said she was fine. My mom (her grandmother) was called to the school and knew something wasn't right. They called for an ambulance and Cecilia was immediately rushed to the hospital. She started having a seizure at the hospital and that’s when they had to go in and perform emergency brain surgery on her.
As it turns out my niece was born with an abnormal blood vessels in her brain (also known as brain arteriovenous malformation). She had gotten so stressed out from the bullying that it caused one of the blood vessels to rupture, causing a brain hemmorage.
Right now, they have her in a medically incuded coma as they continue to monitor her health. The doctors didn't give a time frame but said that she'll more than likely be in the hospital for up to 4 months to ensure she gets better. The doctors have said it is possible she won't be able to remember her family and friends, she might not be able to talk or even walk.
My sister, Erica Vega, is her mother and she is staying by her side but will have to take time off from work to do so. She's a single mother of 4 and can use all the help she can get during this time. I am asking all friends, family, and anyone else you may know to please share her story and donate to her fund. We thank you for anything you feel is best to donate to our family as we make it through this very trying time.
