Cecile Lusby, mother, grand/great grandmother and community pillar, suffered a stroke on October 24th. She is experiencing some fine motor challenges, and her expressive communication has been profoundly impacted.
She was released from an acute rehabilitation center on Saturday, November 5th, and will continue working toward her recovery at her daughter Morgan's house. Cecile needs to receive speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy over the coming weeks and months to regain her skills. While she currently needs full-time care, Cecile's primary goal is to return to her tiny home and live as independently as possible.
To that end, we are asking for help from Cecile's community as we prepare for the cost of providing for her safety and self-advocacy. We will need to make upgrades to her tiny home, such as reinforcing her ramp and railing, ensuring her flooring is safe by installing carpet (no more throw rugs!), providing a safe bathtub/shower area, and purchasing a portable intercom system. We have already purchased an iPad with communication apps to help her speech and language improve and to help Ceclie communicate her needs more clearly.
We don't know what the road to recovery will look like as we are just at the beginning of this journey, but we want the best for our mother/grandmother/sister/friend, Cecile, and right now, we ask for your support on her behalf.
