Cece's Fight for Mobility

Hello, my name is Cece. I am currently raising money to help with co-insurance costs and ramps for my custom wheelchair.

I lost my ability to walk in the beginning of 2024 as a response to multiple autoimmune conditions and a 5th round of COVID. I am currently on a biosimilar medication to Humira that has a $1200/mo copay for my dose in addition to multiple other medications.

I am currently seeing 5 different specialists, three of which are 2 hours out of town. We are really struggling right now just being able to afford my monthly prescriptions and doctor's copays. I was able to get a 50% discount on my mobility chair due to our income bracket, but I'm still needing to come up with around $2500 to be able to regularly use my chair both in and out outside of the house.

I have spent the last year in a manual wheelchair pushed by my family and it is so much harder than I can explain to give up your Independence. To go from enjoying things with my family to a solo journey in front and alone. I miss being able to easily Wow I love it and appreciate my family more than I can explain. I want to be part of life not behind or in front of what is happening. Not left at home because something is no wheelchair friendly.

I need my independence back. I need to put down the guilt of needing help and get back to living life as it is now and finding a way forward. This chair will both allow me to go back to regular household chores like cooking and cleaning but it also gives me back freedom to do things on my own again. Things like standing at the bathroom counter to get ready or reaching an upper cabinet are currently impossible for me. If I need to shower I have to make sure Eric is available. I cannot even drive after losing feeling in my legs.

Life looks a lot different now, but this chair and the progress over the last year will help me get back to a new normal moving forward.

Our costs are currently around $2500 which is a huge cut from the full cost of the chair, ramps and vehicle hitch but still substantial in addition to our other costs. My insurance approval came through this week and I need to pay the down payment ASAP.
