Hi, my name is Eri. I adopted Scotty in 2012, when he was just a baby. In the past couple of days, my partner and I have noticed that Scotty has stopped eating and was losing an alarming amount of weight. We've taken him to a local vet and an emergency animal hospital to try to get some answers. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with terminal round cell cancer. We have decided to move forward with palliative care. However, as I'm sure many of you who are pet owners know, vet bills can add up quickly. Any help we can get to pay off these bills would be super helpful.
For transparency, we are in Canada, but I am using my US-based credit card to pay the bills, and my GFM account is locked to the US. As such, I'm listing the converted costs as they appear on my credit card.
So far, these are the bills we've had to pay:
- Initial vet visit: $118.48 USD
- Initial diagnostic testing: $1212.92 USD
- Additional diagnostic testing: $1229.18 USD
We are also planning to pursue at-home euthanasia once his time has come, which we estimate will cost around $700 CAD, or $500 USD.
