My mom is the heart & soul of my family. She works so hard to make things better for us.
Mom worked hard in school to follow her dreams to become a mortician. Helping others when they are lost and in pain from losing someone is her calling. She knows what it is like to be lost and alone. She even works hard every day to help others get through that pain and to heal. When we lost my grandpa, mom was always there for us.
Things took a turn and mom couldn’t find work as a mortician without leaving Washington. My dad builds airplane parts. His work is here in Washington. So, my mom gave up on her dream so we could all be together.
When mom was going to school, she worked selling car parts to pay for her tuition. After she gave up her dreams for us, she realized she loved fixing cars too.
My mom has a good heart, despite everything she’s been through. She found some baby kittens behind some storage trailers. She said there was rat poison back there and she didn’t want them to get hurt. She went around to get all the kittens but fell off the ledge. Now she’s hurt bad. She tore her ACL and damaged the cartilage in her knee.
Our family has never had much money, but mom always says that we’ll make it through somehow. Now, I’m not so sure.
Since mom got hurt, she can no longer work. She can barely walk. She’s had me help fix her car before. It’s very hard to get to the different parts. Without her being able to move her knee, she can’t do her job.
I’ve been helping my mom get around. We tell each other everything, so I know how much our family struggles. Since mom’s injury, we have not been able to pay all our bills. Our apartment has given us till November 30th to pay our FULL rent of $2800 or they will get the police to put us on the street.
Mom went to DSHS, but they said we do not qualify for assistance. Mom went to the bank, but they won’t help us. I helped my mom call all the numbers we got from 211 and my brother’s school social worker. Everyone said there is no rental help right now.
Two days ago, my mom got off the phone with the doctors. They said she needs surgery immediately to fix her knee, but we need to pay $3000 before they will schedule her.
In all my life, I have never seen my mom so scared. My mom is stronger than steel and kinder than a baby elephant. She’s not afraid of pain or going in for surgery. She’s afraid of my brother and I not having a place to live and of her not being able to get the surgery so she can take care of us.
My brother and I can’t work yet. Our birth certificates are gone; lost in the last move. We were both born out of state. Mom said it took 6 months and multiple tries to get them last time. It also cost her more money than we can spare. We can’t get our IDs in time to help.
Please. My mom needs your help. She’s tried everything. We’ve tried everything. You, who are reading this now, are our last chance. Please. Anything helps. Please help me help my mother who has done everything she can to give my brother and I better than she had.
Thank you for everything.
Sincerely,
A Loving Child.
