Luke's Top Surgery Fund

Hi, my name is Luke and I'm a young trans man. I've wanted (and needed) top surgery for nine years now, and now it’s finally happening! My surgery date is March 4th.

At this point in my life, binding daily is damaging my health, causing breathing, posture, and muscle problems that are constant and painful. But I’d rather endure the physical pain than bear the exhausting emotional pain and dysphoria I feel without a binder.

I want to be free from all of it.

I want to be comfortable in my own skin, take my shirt off at the beach, and stop suffocating in a sweatshirt in the hot California summer.

I am lucky to live in a progressive state where I have access to great trans healthcare, but it comes at a high cost. I was quoted $12,000 for surgery and denied coverage by my insurance for not being a "necessary" surgery. The $12k will only cover the cost of the actual surgery, leaving the costs of the consultation, follow-ups, materials such as bandages and post-op binder, etc. Additionally, I will need to travel in order to get surgery, adding travel costs. Finally, I work an active job as a personal trainer, meaning I will be out of income entirely during the duration of my recovery. The total amount I’m asking for will go to cover all of these costs and allow me to take time off to recover without risking going back to work too soon and causing complications.
