After moving to California in 2011, I made an appointment to get my hair done by Katy after a recommendation from a colleague at my new job. I made an instant connection with Katy and she has been a dear friend and a big part of my life ever since.
Over the last 9 years, it has become evident that Katy's love for her Dad is immeasurable. Bob has always been described as a humble, loving, and kind soul by Katy. His dedication to his wife, children, and grandchildren is evident in every anecdote, and conversation with Katy when I ask about her family.
On Tuesday morning May 26, 2020, the unthinkable happened. Bob was out riding his bicycle in the bike lane when he was struck by a passing car and went through the windshield. The driver fled the scene leaving Bob unconscious and severely injured. Bob sustained multiple deep lacerations to his face and head, a broken scapula and ribs as well as road rash to 80% of his body.
Bob has a long and difficult road to recovery. The driver of the vehicle has not yet been found by the Elk Grove Police Department. I am kindly and humbly asking for donations to the Greenwald family to help support them while Bob is unable to work. The donations will go directly to Bob for medical expenses and bills during his recovery. Many are going through economic devastation with the global pandemic and times are tough, but if you can help the Greenwald family in this time of need I would greatly appreciate it.
Some questions you may have before donating:
1. Who are you and where you’re from? my name is Kim Matchell I am originally from Newtown, Connecticut but currently reside in Sacramento.
2. Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for: Katy Ackerson, Roberts daughter is my dear, close friend.
3. How Will the funds will be spent? Funds will be deposited directly into Roberts bank account from gofundme (he is the beneficiary of the donation account) and will be spent on medical bills and household bills while he is recovering and can’t work.

We need your help. On Tuesday (5/26) morning around 7:40, officers responded to a hit and run collision on Elk Grove Boulevard between Foulks Ranch Drive and Laguna Lake Way. The victim was riding a bicycle in the bike lane when the victim was hit by a passing vehicle. The victim did suffer severe head lacerations as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital. After hitting the victim, the suspect vehicle took off.
With evidence recovered at the scene and witnesses, the suspect vehicle is a white 2010-2013 Honda Accord (like the vehicle pictured). The vehicle most likely sustained damage to the windshield, passenger side body panels, and is missing the passenger side mirror.
The driver was described as an older Caucasian female with grey hair who could barely see over the steering wheel.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department at (916) [phone redacted].
