Hope Floats
Fostering Hope Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides goods and services to children residing in the foster care system in Horry, Georgetown, Marion, and Dillon counties in northeastern South Carolina. There are, on average, over 500 children within these counties who are in foster care due to abuse and/or neglect. Along with sponsorship opportunities, Fostering Hope has a store where the children can shop for clothing, shoes, toys, and school supplies at no charge to the foster families or the Department of Social Services.
Our team, “Hope Floats,” needs your help! We are a group of business students – five freshmen led by one senior – at Coastal Carolina University. We are tasked with filling two backpacks with essential supplies (clothes, school supplies, toiletries, toys) to be donated to foster children through Fostering Hope Inc. How we go about attaining the content for these backpacks is entirely up to us, but we want to raise money to purchase the items ourselves, so that we can feel a personal connection to the foster children we’re helping.
We are not limited to just the backpacks; we can go above and beyond, and we hope you will be inspired to help us do just that! We can fill boxes and bags, too. We can roll a bicycle to campus. We weren’t given a limit. Filling the backpacks is the minimum requirement, but these children need and deserve so much more, which is why we hope to raise $2000 to split between the two students. Any little bit you can contribute is going to an incredible cause! Not only are you helping foster children in desperate need, you’re helping our team benefit from charity work, as well as gain a better understanding of teamwork through hands-on experience. Together we know we can raise the amount we need over the next 2 weeks. Please help us foster some hope!
