Hi Guys, my name is Sydney Schewe. Many of you have seen my post about my cousin Ciara "CC" Wood. But if you haven't I'd like to give you a quick background story about this strong, beautiful young lady. CC is an 18 year old young lady that currently attends Crowford County Highschool as a senior. If you know CC and her family you know softball is thier life. I've never seen somone love the game of softball like she does and play with so much heart. I could never truly explain how much she loves ball and describe how effortlessly talanted she is. Being apart of a team has been her life since she could play ball and anyone that has been lucky enough to play along side of her knows there is nothing she would not do for her team. She picks you up when you are down, makes you laugh when you could cry and is always there to have your back. NOW is it our turn to have her back. If you haven't heard already CC started having horrible headaches, fatigue, along with leg numbness and tingling. These symptons we thought were due to sinus issues, pinched nerves or pulled musles from playing ball so hard however, turned out to be much worse. While CC was doing what she loves most play ball for her school she start to stubble and fall at practice due to the numbness in her legs. We knew then something was very wrong and rushed to the ER. After many test and a CT scan we learned that CC had many lesions on her brain. These horrible and terrible finding left us devistated and very scared. CC was quickly refered to a nuerologist, she then had MRI's done. Due to the progression of the lesions on CC's brain the doctors were able to rule out cancer, Thank you God. However, we still got the devestating news that our independent, active athlete would have to live with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) for the rest of her life. MS is a rare disease where your own immune system attacks your body and eats away at your nerve coverings. This causes your body to become unable to listen to your brain. For example, CC knows she wants to walk and knows how but her brain can't tell her legs to move. Imagine feeling trapped in your own body how frustrating this must be for such a young active lady. The most heart breaking part is there is NO cure for MS as of now. However, research has come very far in treating MS. CC can and WILL live a long life but this life change that will not be easy for her to adjust to. CC still has a very long road ahead of her. She will have to have a spinal tap this Monday, the 13th of March, and alot more blood work before she can start her aggressive treatment to decrease the swelling in her brain and stop the MS from worsening. These treatments will allow her manager her symptons and hopefully help her start to walk again soon, being she has almost lost all function of her legs, and let her feel like her self again. MS is a life long battle she now has to manage everyday. With that being said you can imagine how helpless her parents and family feel. As they watch someone they love so so dearly struggle to walk and do the things she loves. But we can now help and take some of the burden away from them and help raise money for her and her family so they can pay for her medical treatment. CC's mother Amy has always been a stay at home mom for the girls and worked hard cleaning house's so she could be there for every single ball game. CC's father Woody works hard for a plumming company to give them the life they deserve, however right now CC does NOT have medical insurance. Every single penny of money raised will go to CC's medical treatment and to pay the bills that have already started pilling up. This money is to help her get the expensive medicine's and test that she needs to stop the progression of this horrible disease. I wish I could put into words how hard it is for our family to ask for help but we will do whatever it takes to get our CC back to her life again. So we ask you with our hearts open wide please, if you are able, to donate to her medical fund. No amount is too small! CC, her parents and our family could never thank you enough! We would be forever grateful. However, if you can't donate, we would love to have your prayers just as much as the money. We have faith in Gods plan and we know he gives his toughest battles to his strongest soliders. And CC is strong but we need the prayers. I truly want to thank you for taking the time to read this story and if you donate again WE thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I will continue to updated everyone on CC's progress in the life long battle. THANK YOU! #PrayforCC
