In Memory of Joselito, Who Never Gives Up.
Donation protected
Updating but leaving the original fundraiser below for the memories of my father. I am his son Joseph "JR" and updating this fundraiser as my father's health has taken a turn for the worse. The doctor says he doesn't have much time and he is in a hospice house for end of life care. They are keeping him comfortable and pain free, but he isn't responsive to much, when I visit him. As is stated below he doesn't have any savings and did not plan anything for after he passes. Any donations will go to end of life costs and burial services. Thanks in advance any donations and if you knew him personally I hope those memories live on.

- A few points of my understanding of Joseph's life
- HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Joe was born 53 years ago in Brownsville Texas, one of three children of hardworking immigrant parents, Jose and Paulina Escalona. When Joe was very young his father moved the family, setting down permanent roots in Southern California.
Joe was able to avoid the pressures of gang life thanks to a disciplined father and a loving mother. Life was not easy, but through it all, Joe remained grateful and knew he was blessed.
- A MAN OF CHARACTER
Joe has worked hard his entire life holding a number of skilled construction work positions as well as venturing out on his own as an independent contractor in the construction field. His more recent interest in real estate led him to form an LLC, to help struggling families navigate and avoid the devastating potential of foreclosure.
As you might suspect, Joseph is a beloved son, brother, father, friend, and devoted grandfather. Joseph was raised by a loving, God-fearing mother who prays for him daily. As the Tim McGraw song goes, Paulina Escalona raised her son to always be “Humble and Kind”, (and ever so grateful, too) and that is the man I know him to be. Thoughtful, kind, and generous to others in need of help.
- MEDICAL NEED
In 2019 Joseph was diagnosed with a small Cancerous spot on his liver. The spot was treatable and a simple ablation procedure was scheduled for early 2020 in order to eradicate the unwanted tissue. At that point, the Cancerous spot posed no threat to Joe’s life and was considered a low, to medium-priority procedure.
- COVID-19 STRIKES SUDDENLY
Like, for many of us in early 2020 the Covid-19 Virus changed our world! Hospitals were overwhelmed nationwide, focusing on the once-in-a-century deadly pandemic.
- UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES
All non-essential surgeries were postponed or canceled, as the nation-destabilized medical community regrouped to fight a viral enemy it neither welcomed nor understood. His surgery was set for early February 2020 which had taken months to plan.
Fast forward two years and Joseph is now in a fight for his life! What was once a simple procedure has escalated to a battle for life against a now aggressive cancer. The postponement of the original surgery has resulted in a stage 4 diagnosis for which one doctor after another has offered no viable treatments, and predicted cancer will take Jos’s life.
- SO YOU'RE SAYING THERE'S A CHANCE?
Yes! Joe has a chance at a long and productive life! Hope has been restored! A prominent doctor in the United States believes Joe can not only be treated but thanks to a recent medical breakthrough, fully cured of his cancer! The doctor is confident that Joe’s life can be set back on track and his health fully restored!
- PERSONAL FUNDS DEPLETED
Joe has depleted his financial resources over the past two years with expensive treatments and costly chemotherapy medications in order to extend his life. Now with new hope available…to put it simply, Joe is now broke.
- NEW HOPE AT A COST
The Medical treatment that can save Joe’s life carries its own financial weight that Joe cannot endure. The $25,000 procedure itself is new, and although approved by the medical establishment, it, unfortunately, will not be authorized and covered under most insurance plans for at least another year. Joe does not have the luxury of time. Joe needs Surgery NOW!
Half of the cost of the required surgery has been graciously covered by a couple of benevolent organizations that already contributed to this endeavor in the fight against Cancer.
We now need your help to raise the other $12,500 before the procedure can proceed. We need to act quickly while Joe is still strong enough to be a good candidate for surgery. Time is of the essence!
- THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
Please do what you can financially to help save the life of my best friend Joe. Your financial help is appreciated…it is needed…it is essential to our success.
THANK YOU in advance!
Joe and I are grateful for your help…as we are always blessed to be present with you.
Many Blessings,
