Charity Name: Cork City Hospitals Children's Club

Registered Charity Number: 20142292

In this current pandemic we in the Cork City Hospitals Children’s Club like all voluntary organisations at this time is finding it very hard to fundraise, and unfortunately due to restrictions unable to do so. We came up with an idea which we think would be a great way to fundraise at this present time, and we would like to ask you for your support in anyway possible.

On Friday 11th of December in conduction with the media we are going to hold a ‘’CHIRSTMAS HAT DAY!’’.  All we ask is if you & your family member can donate €5 to our gofundme page along with a photo for our social media, or if a workplace would like to do it as a group and donate together you may also do so.

What do we do?

Back in 1994 a small number of hospital staff at the Cork University Hospital Cork got together to raise some money to give children attending the hospital a fun day out.

From here it has grown to 44 volunteers who raise funds to create magical events every year. We are a 100% voluntary organisation. Each volunteer happily devotes their own free time and holidays in order to keep the club operational and make these trips possible. Our volunteers consist of Security Personnel from CUH, Gardaí, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Child Protection Officers, Paramedics and Pharmacists All our money goes straight into our Club. We try to raise €140,000 each year to keep all our events going.

So what we do is create day trips and magical days out for families & children that need a break from normal life. Our goal is to have fun and magical experiences with peace of mind that a full medical support system is in place. So far this year (2020) we have sent eight families on a staycation around Ireland with spending money, food & all extra activites all paid for. These cost on average about €2,500 per family. We need to raise as much money as we can each year to help out all these families and of course our annual trip to Disneyland & our very own Christmas Winter Wonderland.

Our main event every year is a trip of a life time to Disneyland Paris every October we bring 85 people. The group is made up of Deaf , Special Needs, Physical & Mental Abuse Children as well as some tragic circumstances be it suicide or road traffic accidents. This costs €84,000 around each year.

In December each year we travel to Fota House with the help of Garda Traffic Core, Cork Fire Services & Ambulances we bring 240 children to see a very special Mr Santa  & Mrs Claus this is a morning party with lots of fun. Each family and child picked gets a private meeting with Mr & Mrs Claus. This costs about €8000 each year.

Every year if we have funds available we organise events and trips such as:

Fun Cruise & day out on the River Shannon which includes a day of fun water activites.

Since 1994, 83 of the children have passed away and received their wings.

Our Aim is very simple to bring smiles to the faces of sick and deserving children.
