About 3 years ago, my wife Flo was diagnosed with a serious back problem. For those who live close to us, I am sure most have seen her using a cane or crutches on some occasions or limping badly. This has meant living with constant daily pain and never ending medical bills. For the most part our insurance covers a good portion but even the 15 percent out of pocket has been a stretch to keep up.
Her condition progressively has gotten worse and has affected her gait not to mention her quality of life. Living in chronic pain is something that one can never wish on anyone especially for a mother with young children. Unfortunately the nature of the condition required specialised medical care which we could not find in Northern Michigan and we ended up at Mayo clinic.
Since the last week, Flo has been at Mayo clinic and because the surgery has not gone through yet, the daily costs of her stay have run out of control hence my appeal for help. Until she has the surgery she has had to put up in a hotel which is attached to the hospital. Since last week, that alone is now over $1000. The inital plan was changed as they had to run more tests, xrays you name it, which we were not anticipating. We know this is the best place in terms of medical care but we are now in need of help. I went for the worst case scenario due to uncertainty of events and humbly ask for any donation that one can afford. Without the surgery there is no telling where this conditon will lead but the last 3 years has seen a significant deterioration in her quality of life.
Right now the funds will go towards the accomodation expense which continues to rise everyday and the cost of travel as I might need to fly out to bring her home if the surgery proceeds as she will be wheel chair bound during the trip. A road trip is out of the question due to the distance and the pain caused by the bumps on our roads. Remaining funds will be used for the aftercare as in home medical care will be needed during her recovery as no immediate family is availabe. I might be forced to take unpaid leave as my 2 weeks leave is about to run out this week and I cannot leave her alone for at least a week after she gets home.
Any help will be appreciated beyond any words that I can write here and a young mother can once more be given a new lease on life with her 3 kids.
Sincerely
