Here's our story.
On Friday February 24, 2023 I found Gracie under a church entryway on the streets of Curacao in a neighborhood called Piscadera. Despite being extremely malnourished, having a bad case of menge (for which she has now been treated), and being a little timid, she gently eats from your hand, enjoys her forehead being stroked and will allow you to sit near her if you have a few treats in hand.
At this time, the rescue centers on the island are full and there are no fosters that can nurse this 10 month old pup to health. In spite of this, a small group of Canadians that sponsor/volunteer for Rescue Paws Curacao (RPC), and their Dutch friend that lives on the island, have pooled some money together for her immediate care which includes medical assessment/treatment and a minimum of two weeks at doggie daycare where she we have her own garden and bed to recover in, recieve high protein food, antibiotics to treat her raw skin, continued treatment for flea/tick and parasites, and of course love from her care givers. Gracie will also be sterilized when she is strong enough for surgery and recovery.
We have created this fund for Gracie's Recovery for a Better Life to enable continued care for her until a foster is found or a spot opens at RPC. Given the state of the island resources right now, it is uncertain how long privately funded care will be required.
Any donations not used for Gracie's direct care will be donated to Rescue Paws Curacao www.rescuepawscuracao.com.
If you would like to learn more about fostering and/or adopting Gracie in Curacao, Canada or the Netherlands, please contact me via this page or directly. She is a very sweet girl and would be a wonderful addition to any family.
Updates on her recovery will be posted here to share with all of her supporters ❤
