My chubby boy Mocha. I received Mocha from a breeder in October, and he has been the best cat I've ever met—he has the best personality ever. He loves cuddling, follows me around everywhere, loves going outside in a stroller, constantly makes biscuits and shows affection, meows soooo loud every day for food, tries hard to steal food, is incredibly smart and learns tricks so quickly, plus so, so much more. He's a gem and a sweetheart.
Unfortunately, at just 7 months, he's developed megacolon, something most cats develop at 8-10+ years. The vets suspect that it's a genetic thing just because of his age or it's because he was traumatized from something, but I just don't know what. I contacted the breeder (who is a known breeder; I have another cat from her who has been amazing health-wise), and she's never seen this before either. Mocha is at the vet right now with hard, hard stool inside of his stomach that he's unable to poop out. It's been a few days since he's been hospitalized, and there still hasn't been stool movement. At this rate, the vet is looking to do a colon removal surgery on him which will cost $3k.
That amount is costly, considering the fact that just a few months prior to this, he had obstipation which cost me $1k. I had told the vet that the cost is something hard for me to cover. I'm a college student, and this is insanely costly. The vet gave me a few options: 1. give him up to a rescue and 2. euthanize him although none of us wants to do either. I love, love, love, love Mocha with my entire heart. He's the sweetest thing ever. I don't want to part with him, and I know he can get through this. Anything will help, and 100% of it will go towards Mocha's vet costs. Thank you for reading this story, and please keep him in your prayers.
